El Perú donará vacunas contra la Covid-19 a los países más necesitados y serán las adquiridas vía Covax Facility. Así lo informó ayer subdirector de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), Jarbas Barbosa, quien recordó que el país ha recibido 8’002,000 dosis a través del mecanismo.
Durante una conferencia semanal, el funcionario confirmó la disposición del Gobierno peruano de concretar el aporte. Además, recordó que la OPS brinda cooperación técnica a las naciones sobre cómo hacer los procesos de donación para que las vacunas sean trasladadas en condiciones de calidad y mantengan su preservación.
“La OPS sí recibió información del gobierno de Perú. Es un importante acto de solidaridad que se está haciendo porque ya tiene las vacunas necesarias de Covax y también tienen acuerdos bilaterales. Estamos poniendo en contacto los países que tienen la intención de recibir las vacunas [donadas]”, precisó Barbosa.
En tal sentido, destacó el gesto de solidaridad efectuado por el Perú y otros países que han optado por donar vacunas. Sostuvo que estas acciones pueden ayudar a que todos los países, sobre todo los más vulnerables, “tengan un acceso equitativo a las vacunas”.
