La Casa del Pueblo fue remecida tras conocerse que el personero legal del Partido Aprista, José Pimentel, inscribió solo tres de las 27 listas de candidatos al Congreso. Aunque pudo realizar el proceso con anticipación, lo dejó para el último día. Aduciendo problemas y lentitud en el sistema de registro, Pimentel pidió al JEE Lima Centro 2 un plazo adicional, pero este fue rechazado.
Esta situación pone contra las cuerdas al Apra con miras a las próximas elecciones pues si compite con tres listas (Arequipa, Junín y peruanos en el extranjero), no superaría la valla del 5% de votos emitidos a nivel nacional y perdería su inscripción ante el Registro de Organizaciones Políticas del JNE.
La situación deja en evidencia las fracturas internas en el Partido Aprista, por lo que sus miembros exigen cambios en la dirigencia. Una de las primeras voces en solicitarlo es la de Carla García, cuya candidatura por Lima no fue inscrita a pesar de que ganó en las elecciones internas.
