Una menor de tan solo 3 años fue hallada sin vida y con aparentes signos de haber sido ultrajada en el río Moche, ubicado en el distrito con el mismo nombre. Según la PNP, esto ocurrió la tarde del último viernes 1 de enero y se ha detenido a un sujeto como el principal sospechoso.
El cadáver de la infante fue encontrado por un grupo de agricultores que transitaba por la zona; sin embargo, estos divisaron que la menor estaba en una acequia del río Moche y dieron aviso a la Policía.Al llegar al lugar, los efectivos comprobaron la situación e iniciaron las pesquisas del caso. Horas después, los policías ubicaron a un sujeto identificado como Elman E.L.B. (20), quien indicó ser natural de Huamachuco y es el principal sospechoso de lo sucedido; además, habría estado escondido en un pozo de agua.
