El presidente de la Sociedad Peruana de Medicina Intensiva, Jesús Valverde, informó este lunes que solo quedan 50 camas de cuidados intensivos disponibles en todo el país para la atención de pacientes de coronavirus (covid-19) y otras enfermedades graves.
En declaraciones a RPP, Valverde explicó que en esta cantidad solo están comprendidas las camas UCI operativas, es decir, las que cuentan con ventilador mecánico y personal calificado para usarlas.
Cabe indicar que la Sala Situacional del Ministerio de Salud actualmente reporta que1144 camas están ocupadas y las disponibles son 1519, por lo que hay 375 camas UCI con ventilador disponibles según el registro oficial del Gobierno.
El médico señaló también que las regiones de Piura, Trujillo y Chiclayo ya no cuentan con camas de cuidados intensivos, sin embargo dijo que en Lima hay una reserva importante de camas UCI que aún no se usan.
