La Cámara de Diputados de Argentina aprobó este viernes un proyecto de ley que permite acceder libre y legalmente al aborto hasta la semana 14 de gestación y que ahora deberá pasar al Senado para su debate y eventual sanción.
El texto, que fue impulsado por el Gobierno de Alberto Fernández, recibió 131 votos a favor, 117 en contra y seis abstenciones, tras una sesión que se extendió 20 horas. El proyecto representa un fuerte cambio respecto a la situación actual -hoy solo se permite abortar legalmente si la mujer sufrió una violación o corre peligro su vida- y autoriza la objeción de conciencia de los facultativos que no quieran participar del aborto, pero siempre que deriven con rapidez a las pacientes a otros profesionales que lo lleven a cabo.
“Velar por la asistencia y el acompañamiento de todas las mujeres y personas gestantes que deciden interrumpir su embarazo es entender que se trata fundamentalmente de un problema de salud pública”, dijo la diputada oficialista Cecilia Moreau, en el mismo sentido en que Fernández viene pronunciándose desde la campaña electoral de 2019, cuando se comprometió a impulsar el proyecto con la principal motivación de reducir los abortos clandestinos, que ponen en riesgo la vida de las mujeres.
