La Fiscalía de la Nación abrió una investigación preliminar contra el presidente de la Federación Peruana de Fútbol (FPF), Agustín Lozano, por presuntos delitos cometidos cuando se desempeñó como alcalde distrital de Chongoyape, Lambayeque, entre 2011 y 2018.
Lozano será investigado por la presunta comisión del delito contra la administración pública, enriquecimiento ilícito en agravio del estado, durante sus actividades como alcalde en dos periodos: 2011-2014 y 2015-2018. Además, en febrero de 2019 la Fiscalía Anticorrupción de Lambayeque detectó irregularidades en un convenio entre el municipio de Chongoyape y el club Juan Aurich de Chiclayo.
Según la investigación, el acuerdo establecía el pago de 500 soles por cada partido que se jugara en el estadio municipal Juventud de Chongoyape entre abril y diciembre de 2018. Sin embargo, la recaudación habría llegado a 10 mil soles en cada uno de los 14 partidos jugados por el club.
