El Instituto Peruano del Deporte cuenta con un presupuesto de entre 5 y 6 millones de soles para ser utilizados en los deportistas que ya clasificaron a los juegos olímpicos y los que aún tienen opciones de obtener sus cupos a Tokio 2020.
«En un primer momento, antes de que se inicie la pandemia, proyectamos llevar a Tokio 41 deportistas. Hasta el momento tenemos a 17 clasificados y un número realista es alrededor de 30, pero siempre apuntamos alto así que miramos al 40 como un número importante, ya que falta una cantidad importante de torneos clasificatorios», dijo el presidente del IPD, Gustavo San Martín, a la Agencia de Noticias Andina.
Asimismo, el máximo dirigente del deporte en el Perú anunció que el IPD, a través del programa Vamos con Tokio, cuenta con un presupuesto que serán utilizados netamente en los deportistas que accedan a los Juegos Olípimcos Tokio 2020 y los que están con opciones de clasificar.
