A través de la Resolución Secretarial 000048-202, el RENIECPERU dispuso la apertura del registro electoral de extranjeros residentes en el Perú, el cual regirá desde el día de mañana hasta el 02 de octubre de 2021.
De esta manera, los extranjeros mayores de 18 años, residentes por más de dos años continuos en el Perú, previos a la elección, “podrán ejercer las facultades de elegir y ser elegidos en las Elecciones Regionales y Municipales del año 2022”, el cual se realizará el 22 de octubre de ese año.
“Conforme a lo dispuesto por el artículo 7° de la Ley N° 26864, Ley de Elecciones Municipales, los extranjeros mayores de dieciocho (18) años residentes por más de dos (02) años continuos previos a la elección, tienen derecho a elegir y ser elegidos en las elecciones municipales, excepto en las zonas de frontera, siempre y cuando estén debidamente inscritos en el registro correspondiente”, indica la resolución de Reniec.
En otra parte del documento se indica que el registro de los extranjeros estará a cargo de la Gerencia de Operaciones Registrales, la de Registros de Identificación, Tecnología de la Información y la de Registro Electoral.
